TPSM8D6C24: Compensation selection

Part Number: TPSM8D6C24
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS546D24A,

Hi team,

The Table 8-2 recommends ILOOP=6 for 550kHz frequency.
But, calculating it from Eq. (26) in TPS546D24A datasheet, the result is 4.767,
which is same as TPSM8D6C24 typical application / EVM value.
Which do you recommend, 6 or 4?
Did this difference come from difference between TPS546D24A and TPSM8D6C24?

Also, how would I set VLOOP?
I tried to calculate with Eq. (10), but the digit of the result (5.288*10^(-6)) is too different.

⊿V_OUT=10 mV
⊿I_OUT=11.64 A
CSA=6.155 mV/A
N=2
VOUT_SCALE_LOOP=0.5

Could you let me know how to calculate it out?

Regards,
Itoh

  • Hi Itoh,

    I am taking a look into these and will get back to you tomorrow.

    Best regards,

  • Itoh-san,

    It looks like there is an error with the VLOOP equation in the application section of the TPSM8D6C24 datasheet. As it reads now, it is in the units of (mV/A)*(mV/A). This should not be the case. For now, Please refer to Equation 30 in the TPS546D24A datasheet to calculate VLOOP.

    The compensation procedure in the TPSM8D6C24 datasheet is different than in the IC's datasheet (TPS546D24A). For that reason, please refer to the IC's datasheet for calculating ILOOP and VLOOP.

    Best regards,

    Britton
