TPSM8D6C24: How to monitor IOUT for the stacked configuration

Part Number: TPSM8D6C24

Hi team,

My customer considers to monitor IOUT with PMBUS (Slave address = 7F).
How can they estimate the IOUT for the stacked configuration accurately?
Can it be just twice as much of the controller?
Or, do you recommend to read out the current value of the follower side as well and add them together?
In the latter case, my customer concerns the timing difference can cause some error.

Regards,
Itoh

  • Hi Itoh,

I am taking a look into this and will get back to you tomorrow.\

    Best regards,

  • Hi Itoh-san,

In a stacked configuration, they can get the total current of the stack by adding the measured current from each device. If the measurements are taken under the same conditions, timing difference does not seem to be a concern. READ_IOUT (8Ch) can read the total current of the stack but only if those devices are supporting a single output.

Please let me know if you have any further questions,

    Britton
