BQ34110: How can you write to registers over I2C manually without using BQstudio?

We are using the BQ34110 in our product to gauge a 5 cell NIMH pack. We use BQ studio with the EV2400 interface to program the golden image and parameters. 

We are experiencing issues on products in the field such as sudden SOC drops and a lack of charge termination signal.

we would therefore like to update registers/parameters such as CEDV smoothing on the fly via a host MCU. 

It appears we can write data to flash but doesn't seem to be written/applied to the registers?

  1. How can we update parameters/registers using a host MCU rather than from BQ studio/EV2400 Interface, do you have to reset the gauge to do this?
  2. Is is possible to flash the whole GG file (all Registers) via IC2 using a Host MCU.
