BQ51050B: FAULT mode : if conditions permit the IC to comes out from the Fault condition, does the charge start again?

Part Number: BQ51050B

Hi,

I am coming back to the support with a new question on the temperature management of the wireless receiver BQ5105X.

In the datasheet it is written clearly "If the TS/CTRL pin is pulled below VCTRL-LOW, the RX is shut down with the indication of a fault." My questions are the next ones :

  1. Is the fault condition is sent to the transmitter (the wireless charger)? Like it could be asked by the Qi convention.
  2. If the signal is not below VCTRL-LOW anymore (because the temperature is regulated or the MCU send a new signal), does the charge start again?

In advance, thank you for your support.

Best regards.

  • Hi Vivien,

    Welcome to E2E!

Is the fault condition is sent to the transmitter (the wireless charger)? Like it could be asked by the Qi convention.

Yes, the TS fault condition is sent through the EPT to the transmitter. You can find more information on this in Section 8.3.4.6 of the datasheet.

If the signal is not below VCTRL-LOW anymore (because the temperature is regulated or the MCU send a new signal), does the charge start again?

The charge does not resume again when the VTS_CTRL voltage returns to below VCTRL_LOW

    Best Regards,
