BQ34Z100-G1: BQ34Z100-G1

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, GPCCHEM

Hello

I am trying to make a new golden pack to battery but it doesn't pass the first step.

Cells type- INR18650-30Q

Battery configuration- 7S6P

I need to make the learning at the range of 22V - 28.5V which is 3.14V - 4.07V per cell.

at the and of the first charging the FC bit rise to "1" but after 3 hours of rest  the Qmax wasn't updated, learning step stayed on 4 (should be updated to 5), and VOK stayed active.

due to that the process can not proceed.

attached the data memory file

  • Hello Avi.

Please attach the BQStudio log file from your learning cycle attempt, we need this to do analysis on the reasons why the learning may have failed.

Make sure you have selected the correct chem ID and programmed it. You can use the GPCCHEM tool or if there is an exact match you can use that as well.

From the voltage range you described I believe it may be failing since you are not cycling the full range of the battery. During learning you should use the full specification according to the manufacturer. After learning you can reduce this range. If you reduce before learning is complete you will not get a 90% change in DOD to get a valid Qmax for learning.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

Attached the log file of the learning cycle.

    The chemical ID is correct.

Regarding your suggestion to do the learning on the full range and after that to set the parameters according the application. I concern that the QMAX will not update at the field as it doesn't update at the learning cycle since the charging will be to 4.07V per cell.

    Best regards

  • Hello Avi,

I took a look at the logs, it looks like it is a combination of what I mentioned and also not relaxing long enough after discharge.

Make sure you relax at least 5 hours or until the DOD0 is updated after a discharge.

The 90% change in DOD is only applied to the learning cycle. Once it is in the field the DOD change needed is only 37%. You must cycle the full range of the battery for the learning cycle otherwise learning will not complete.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi

Let's say that i completed successfully learning cycle with full range. now i want to change some parameters as the battery actually works.

the range of the battery as it works in the field is 22V to 28.5V (7s) which means 3.14V to 4.07V per cell.

which parameters do i have to change in the Data Memory ?

  • Hello Avi,

You don't need to adjust the values programmed to the gauge, you just need to charge according to the cell manufacturer specification so the gauge takes a DOD reading from the low and high points to update Qmax.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
