TPS25830A-Q1: cable compensation and device truth table

Part Number: TPS25830A-Q1

I have two questions about TPS25830A-Q1 when I learn its datasheet. 1th is about cable compensation, how can we determine the wire resistance in practical applications? Is the resistance of user charging cable fixed?

2th is about its device truth table. What is the mean of  'Type-C(3A)+CDP mode', The current limit is 1.5A in CDP mode based on BC 1.2. So what is the current limit in  'Type-C(3A)+CDP mode', If the limit is 3A, why? and why the current is about 1.5A when I conduct a phone charging test.

  • 1. Correct. It's fixed.

    2. In type c mode, the CDP is just to set the control pin for 3A current and 1.5A for SDP as type-c protocol rules.

For BC1.2, CDP mode is 1.5A.

It's decided by the phone how much current to draw as our IC is able to provide 3A current. Another reason, maybe the phone doesn't support type-c protocol.
