BQ34Z100-G1: Accuracy of SoC and SoH

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100, BQ40Z50

As the impedance track considers a full pack as a single cell, how does the SoC and SoH measured by it is related to individual cells involved in the series-parallel used for the pack?

Does the pack's SoH also mean the cell's SoH?

  • Hi,

As you mentioned, the BQ34Z100 treats the entire pack as a single cell. This means that the pack's SOH reflects and average of the cell's SOHs. Theoretically these values should be even from cell to cell but to get a look at each cell individually, I would suggest using the BQ40Z50. The BQ40Z50 has cell balancing and can report parameters of each cell as they are all monitored individually on that gauge. Both the BQ34Z100 and the BQ40Z50 use the Impedance Track algorithm.

    Thanks,

    Jackson
