TPS53355: Vin(max) value

Hi,

I am using TPS53355DQPR in my design for below requirements:

1. Vin=12V, Vout=5V, Iout=30A

2. Vin=5V, Vout=0.84V, Iout=30A

Equation 8 in the datasheet provides a formula to calculate the inductor value. The equation contains Vin (max) value to be used during calculations.

Now what should be the Vin(max) value. Whether it should be maximum input voltage to the regulator as per my design which is 12V or maximum input voltage that the regulator can support i.e.15V. Please suggest.

Hello Shifali,

Are you going to use the same inductor for both VIN5V and VIN12V?

the VIN(max) relates to the maximum voltage that you expect the buck to function properly and meet your spec. So if 12Vin is the max that the buck will see, then use 12V with some margin.

I will be using different inductors for VIN-5V and VIN-12V.
