MISCSYSPG Register in TPS650861 data sheet

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS650861, IPG-UI

Hello Ti,

Regarding TPS650861 data sheet – SWCS142 – JULY 2018

I checked that MISCSYSPG Register (offset = Ach) is different from same register in the IPGUI software.

The register in the data sheet is mirrored from the same register in the IPGUI software.

I think that the data sheet is wrong.

Please check it.

Thanks,

Moshe

  • Hi Moshe,

Just to confirm, what hex value are you seeing from the MISCSYSPG register after a device reset?

Also, was any programming done on the device before reading the registers for the first time?

    Regards,

    James

  • Thanks James!

I’m reading the register after first time programing after a device reset.

Enclosed please find a captures from data sheet and from IPGUI software.

For example GPO3_CTL6_msk bit that I’m using, in the data sheet this is bit[0] and in the IPGUI software this is bit [7].

I think that the data sheet is wrong. (mirrored).

    Thanks,

    Moshe

  • Hi Moshe,

If you used the OTP Generator for your first round of programming, it normally updates the MISCSYSPG register with a value 0xFF from the "script generator" section (shown in the picture below). This value corresponds to having CTL3 and CLT6 masked for all GPIO pins.

The register defaults in the datasheet do not take into account any user programming. They represent the register values that should be present in the device right out of the box. If you have used the OTP Generator since receiving the chip, these register values will have changed to what is shown in the script generator.

    Regards,

    James

  • Thanks James!

I’m not talking about the register default value in the data sheet.

Please explain why there is a different in the location of each bit between data sheet and the IPGUI software for this register.

For example GPO3_CTL6_msk bit that I’m using, in the data sheet this is bit[0] and in the IPGUI software this is bit [7].

    Regards,

    Moshe

  • Hi Moshe,

I see what you mean now, apologies for my misunderstanding. The IPG-UI appears to be the correct register mapping. We are investigating internally in order to confirm the details.

    Regards,

    James

  • Hi Moshe,

After looking closer at the datasheet, we agree with your assessment. The register description has been added to our list for datasheet updates.

The bit field descriptions in IPG-UI are the correct order.

    Regards,

    James
