Selection of parameter Δdod for simulation of BQ40Z50 fuel gauge RSOC

The gauge will automatically choose the step size for capacity simulations. While it is technically possible to configure the behavior, it's not intended to be done by a customer (it's a critical parameter which should only be changed by TI after a thorough analysis if there's an unexpected problem).

The effect is that the simulation will become more or less accurate and it may run too long (=higher power consumption, potential watchdog issues; without tangible benefit (negligible increase in accuracy)) or too short (=less accuracy) if this isn't set correctly.

Will this step change automatically, or is it a fixed value? How does it generally choose the step size for simulation, and what factors are related to it?

Assuming we are talking about the same thing (step size during capacity simulations), it's controlled by a hidden parameter which defines a fixed step size for the initial part of the sim. The gauge will adjust this close to terminate voltage automatically.
