BQ76942: Safe Battery Manufacture - keep battery disabled while soldering cells

Part Number: BQ76942

Hi,

How can we ensure that our BMS (BQ76942PFBR) keeps the battery disabled while we are soldering our LiPo cells to the BMS?

It won't have power from any other source during this process.

Thank you for your help.

  • Hey Dan,

As long as you are using an N-Channel Enhancement MOSFET, the FETs will be off when they are not receiving a gate voltage from the device. In this case, there will be no gate voltage since the device will not be powered. Even when most of the cells are connected, the device will have to be physically turned on through charger connection or pulling down the TS2 pin. During shutdown, the device will not drive the FETs.

    Thanks,
    Caleb

  • Thanks for that Caleb. That's great!
