TLC6983: Question about alternate usage

Hi Team,

We need your help ont the clarification for alternative usage for TLC6983. The customer wanted to drive higher voltage devices rather than LEDs.

They plan to have the row RGB outputs drive an Op Amp, and power resistors. They would use the Line outputs to be either off or on. When a line is off, it will sometimes be exposed to the higher voltage of the op-amp output.

Our question is "how high of a voltage can the line output FETs withstand without breaking down, when in the OFF state."?

Hi Jonathan,

please refer to the below figure. table Absolute Maximum Ratings shows the Maximum value of Line is 6V. These are stress ratings only, which do not imply functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under Recommended Operating Conditions.

In addition, which application will use this device? For industrial, we have another device LP5890 and the main difference between two device is that the TLC6983 support dual edge transmission and LP5890 just transfer data at rising edge.
