TPS62172-Q1: TPS62172-Q1 Replacement

Part Number: TPS62172-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62172, TPS62162-Q1, TPS62162

Hello team,

Due to the delivery issue of the TPS62172-Q1, we are considering the alternative part.

We believe below are the candidate. Non-automotive grade is also under consideration.

1. TPS62172

2. TPS62162-Q1

3. TPS62162

Question

1. What is the difference between TPS62172-Q1 and TPS62172 except the auto/non-auto grade?

2. What is the difference between TPS62172-Q1 and TPS62162-Q1? only current limit?

3. What is the difference between TPS62162-Q1 and TPS62162 except the auto/non-auto grade?

4. If they go to the TPS62172 from TPS62172-Q1, no change is needed for the schematic?

5. If they go to the TPS62162-Q1/TPS62162 from TPS62172-Q1, the portion they need to change in the schematic is only inductor to meet the new current limit? Are there any other portion they need to change?

I appreciate your support.

Regards,

Hirata

  • Hello Hirata,

    1. What is the difference between TPS62172-Q1 and TPS62172 except the auto/non-auto grade?

There isn't any difference in performance between the two devices.

    2. What is the difference between TPS62172-Q1 and TPS62162-Q1? only current limit?

Yes, the difference between these two devices is the current limit for the different output current ratings.

    3. What is the difference between TPS62162-Q1 and TPS62162 except the auto/non-auto grade?

There isn't any difference in performance/operation between these two devices.

    4. If they go to the TPS62172 from TPS62172-Q1, no change is needed for the schematic?

These devices are pin-to-pin compatible. No schematic changed needed.

    5. If they go to the TPS62162-Q1/TPS62162 from TPS62172-Q1, the portion they need to change in the schematic is only inductor to meet the new current limit? Are there any other portion they need to change?

If the inductor is changed, my recommendation is to make sure the capacitor value is from the recommended LC output filter table in the datasheet . This will ensure stability of the converter.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Joseph
