Hello Expert,

This seems like an impossible question, but please check it.

Our customer has thermal issue.

So they want to know whether they can add another gate driver to this part externally or not to reduce thermal issue.

Is it possible for pins of red box as below?

or Is there any solution and guide to reduce thermal issue except FAN or Cooler?

Hello Michael,

The LM5170 can support external gate drivers.
It also allows for a manual configuration (programming) of the dead-time.

Here is an example how this could look like:

Hi Harry,

Thanks for your kind support.

I got a inquiry from customer.

Our customer has a plan to use UCC27201A gate driver for operating Buck converter.

They will connect as below schematic.

Also 12V will be supply to HB1, HB2.

SW1, SW2 will be connect to GND.

Could you please review and feedback to me?

Hello Michael,

With respect to the LM5170, I would recommend using only 10V instead ov 12V as a supply for the gate drivers (HB1 and HB2 pins).
Connecting SW1 and SW2 to GND should work.

I am not an expert in our Gate Drivers.

May I ask you to open a separate thread for the UCC27201A ?
