TPS54618: High efficiency at light load device recommendation

Part Number: TPS54618
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62816-Q1, TPS54519, TPS54678, TPS54719

hi team:

my customer sourcing one device as below request, can you help to confirm and promote ? tks in advance.

1. p2p with TPS54618

2. I max load >5A

3. 5Vin,3.8Vout, the efficiency at 1-10mA need to high than 50%.

  • Hi Allen,

One more question here. Are you looking for automotive parts here?

    Thanks, Tanvee

  • HI Tanvee:

customer prefer industrial version due to supply issue.

  • Hi Allen,

Understood. There is a p2p compatible part TPS57114c but it can support max 4A load. I would also suggest taking a look into the new device like TPS62816-Q1 that can give good efficiency in light load conditions but it is not P2P to TPS54618 part.

    Best regards, Tanvee

  • hi Tanvee:

tks for your feedback, but as i check the spec of TPS57114c ,just Q100 version only.  and check the efficiency of light load may hard to catch up with the efficiency at 1-10mA need to high than 50%.

and i do some research as below :

If  follows p2p with TPS54618, options are as below:
    1.TPS54519 5A. Under 5Vin, 0-0.5A load is 45%-90% efficiency.
2.TPS54678, 6A, with current hiccup protection, the efficiency under 0.5A test is about 85% under 6Vin.

    3.TPS54719, 7A, 0-0.5A load under 5Vin is 35%-90% efficiency.

but i cannot see the test data of light load at customer requested. would you help to check?

  • Hi Allen,

I would suggest using Webench to get the efficiency data for light load conditions. All devices have the Webench model.

These are quite old devices so we don't have lab data for given conditions.

    Thanks, Tanvee
