Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25710
Hi team,
datasheet list "do not enable low power mode with adapter present",
but what would happen if we plug in the adapter during low power mode in battery only,
will the register be refresh?

Hi, Fred,
The low power mode or low power bit is ignored when adapter present. In other words, the charger will exit low power mode and operate in performance mode when adapter is plugged in. (The low power bit remains intact.)

Tiger
Hi Tiger,
thanks,
so with adapter , charger doesn't care if the bit is 0 or 1, right?
Hi sorry,
adding one condition,
can we set this bit to 1 right after using adapter power up?
Hi
my customer is facing some issue,
when they set this bit to 1 during adapter only , the comparator threshold became 1.2V from 2.3V,
but why? I thought this only affect during battery only
and why it's not recommend to enable this function with adapter only?

The EN_LWPWR mode and EN_PROCHOT_LPWR are two different registers/bits. EN_PROCHOT_LPWR is only effective when EN_LWPWR=1 in battery only. The datasheet 9.3.21.1 has a detailed section for EN_PROCHOT_LPWR.

Hi Tiger,
I know but I test it on BQ25710 EVM today myself,
and the threshold really change to 1.2V after I set EN_PROCHOT_LPWR=1 during adapter only,
any idea?
HI Tiger,
but you said this is only effective during battery only ?
but I was adapter only
This is for enable low power mode EN_LWPWR bit.

Hi Tiger,
you keep saying EN_LWPWR bit.
but I was refer to EN_PROCHOT_LPWR all the time....
so let me put it this way again, so EN_PROCHOT_LPWR will change comparator threshold to 1.2V even during adapter only, correct?
Hi Tiger,
does it means the prochot only monitor COMPOUT if I set EN_PROCHOT_LPWR=1 during "adapter only" ?
or it still monitors all the stuff as usual?
Regards,
Fred
This combination is invalid. Do not enable low power prochot when adapter present.
Hi Tiger,
I prefer my question is being answer with an explanation, or it would just take us more time on this back and forth.
let me put it this way, so if I set EN_PROCHOT_LPWR=1, not only the COMPOUT threshold will change,
but also the prochot will only monitor COMPOUT, which means EN_PROCHOT_LPWR=1 is also effective during adapter only,
is that right?
I think so. That is the reason the datasheet says "Do not enable low power prochot when adapter present."
