Hi Expert

my customer have three question:

1. For the BQ79616: BQ79616-Q1 Daisy Chain Communications Application Report page 11

why 1-byte=10.3uS? how to get 10.3uS?

2. in the EVM schematic, we have two question:

2.1 why VDD doesn't need TVS diode? my customer use the other vendor device need TVS but we device needn't so they want to check why?

2.2 why we choose the BJT for power supply in Q1? why doesn't choose MOS? how to choose it and which spec need to care about?

Hello,

1. One byte takes 10.3 us to account for some delays in the communication.

2.1 Are you referring to the BAT pin? There is a placeholder footprint for a TVS diode from BAT to GND in the schematic. However, it is not required unless they are concerned with transient EMC testing.

2.2 BJTs are typically better for EMI design due to less switching di/dt and dv/dt. For NPN selection you can refer to the design recommendations application note in mysecureSW on page 3.
