Hello,

We are evaluating the use of the BQ76952 for protecting a series combination of 4 batteries (LiFePo4 in a 4S configuration).

But BQ76952 works for 16 cells and there is 17 VC pin How can we connect 4 cells only? What about the other pins.Do you leave empty or connected to the ground? or is there another solution?

What about your advice or opinions?

Hey Isa,

You can use the BQ76952 with as little as 3 series battery packs. See Table 16-3 regarding unused VCx pins. Keep in mind that cell inputs 1, 2, and 16 should always be connected to actual cells. To clarify, there should be a cell between VC16 and VC15, a cell between VC2 and VC1, and a cell between VC1 and VC0. In your case, you could connect the fourth cell between VC3 and VC2. You can short the rest of the unused VCx pins to adjacent VCx pins as seen in figure 10-2 in the datasheet.
