TPS65987D: EEPROM Programming using FTDI C232HM (FT232H) cable

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-050012

Hello, I'm attempting to perform a first time setup of TPS65987D EEPROM. I have a custom design that is basically a clone of the TIDA-050012 EVM. Using the TPS659xx Customization GUI I'd like to load the included TIDA-050012 Template as a starting point. I'm attempting to do this using FTDI's C232HM-DDHSL-0 (which contains a FT232H IC). The GUI seems to recognize the cable (FT232H is even explicitly listed in adapter instance) but I am unable to perform any sweeps or test reads. I'm using the latest version of the GUI and all the FTDI drivers are up to date.

Is it possible to use this cable and there is something I am missing? Or do I need to use a FT2232 or FT4232 device that has a concurrent SPI and I2C MPSSE interface?

Alternatively, is there a way to get the TPS65987D setup like the EVM over I2C? Like a register dump from the EVM?
