TPS1H100-Q1: Hard short current

Part Number: TPS1H100-Q1

Hi TI expert,

According to TPS1H100-Q1 datasheet, there's a fast loop to turn off MOSFET when hard short happens. However, according to my test waveform as below, it seems the fast loop doesn't work. The output current reaches 30A before settling down to the configured current limit value. It is too high. Could yu please help to explain why the fast loop doesn't work here? Thanks.

  • Hi RL,

Could you clarify where did you short the output? It seems it's not a hard short as the current ramps up with a inductance and output is not directly drop to ground level.

Could you try to short directly at the device output without wire inductance etc. and verify if you see the fast loop engage?

    Thanks!

    Regards,
