Can you confirm again -- this is CC-CV for battery charging and not CV-CC for brickwall current limit?

Madhura,

Take a look at Fig. 2 in app note SNVA829. This shows a TLV431 for voltage-loop feedback (to clamp the output voltage once the battery reaches its fully-charged voltage). Note the LM5117 shown in this schematic has an internal current monitor (CM) feature that is not present in the LM5116. Instead, use (1) a shunt resistor on the output to sense current and (2) a current sense amplifier (e.g. INA293) to create a voltage proportional to the output current. Use a 1-4mΩ shunt depending on the current level and choose the gain of the INA as needed. The resistor divider to FB (from VCM, now the output of the INA) can be chosen as needed so that the current regulates at the required setpoint.
