TPS55340: Capacitor parameters of PSPICE for TI Test Circuit

Part Number: TPS55340

Hi team,

In test circuit of TPS55340_trans.dsn, there is 4.7uF output capacitor. It shows some unknown parameters such as "IC=24.21" and "X=3".

What do these parameter mean?

Best regards,

  • Hi Shota,

Thanks for using the e2e forum.
IC stands for 'initial condition'. It can be used for capacitors and inductors to start a simulation with preset induction currents or voltage charges.
For this case, the IC=24,21 means that this capacitor will have a charge of 24.21V when the simulation starts. This way, the output voltage does not need to ramp up, but already have the desired value.

In PSpice, it is also possible to add custom parameters/values to components, like additional names. These will be showed on the schematic, but will have no impact on the simulation itself. I assume the X value is a custom parameter created by the engineer, maybe to distinguish different versions of the C8 cap.
You can see both hidden and shown parameters by right-clicking on a component and select 'Edit Properties...'

Please let me know if you have additional questions.
    Best regards,
    Niklas
