BQ76930: cannot work

Part Number: BQ76930
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350-R1A, BQ78350, BQ78350-R1

Hello,

Which of the following will affect the work of BQ76930? The voltage of REGSRC is above 12V, but REGOUT has no output voltage. Cell voltage and temperature did not find problems. R6 is disconnected and still no response.1884.bq76930.pdf

  • Hi Jingming,

Did you wake the device using the TS1 pin (see datasheet for details)? I do not see a connection to the pin on your schematic.

I also notice on your schematic you are using the BQ78350. I recommend using the BQ78350-R1A which comes with the latest firmware.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • Hello,
    1. See that the activation of TS1 requires a voltage of more than 1V for more than 2S. Do I still need to activate manually when shutdown? Or do not need to control after activation.
    2. Is there any problem with this circuit? Why doesn't CELL4 collect voltage? There is 3.3V across C20, and there is no short circuit between VC5 and VC4.

  • Hi Jingming,

For booting the device, TS1 needs a rising edge and the time is 2ms.

I do not understand the second question. You have VC4 shorted so you should read cell voltages on VC3 and VC5.

    Regards,

    Matt

  • Hello,
    1. Regarding TS1, I would like to ask if it only needs to be activated once? I need to know if I need an external switch to activate TS1.
    2. As shown in the previous schematic diagram, there is a capacitor C20 between VC5 and VC3. I measured the voltage of C20 to be 3.3V. Why does the IC read only 49mV? VC5X I also designed according to the reference TI manual.

  • Hi Jingming,

Yes, TS1 only needs to be activated once to wake the device from SHIP mode. If the device ever goes back into SHIP mode (by command or because of a very low pack voltage, TS1 would need to be activated again).

Thanks for sending the image. I see that you are using the BQ78350-R1 to read the voltages from the BQ76930. You need to set the AFE Cell Map register for the BQ78350-R1 on the Data Memory screen so that it knows which VCx pins are connected to cells. This will fix the issue you are seeing.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • Hello,
Thanks a lot, I got it, the settings should be configured according to the VCX's PIN
