BQ34Z100-G1: Search an expert (qualified person) to generate a golden file

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hello,

I am searching an expert (qualified person) to generate a correct golden file for BQ34Z100-G1. I have the card and batteries.

After I read a lot of forums, documentations and instructions about generation of golden file, I made few golden file but the State Of Charge is not correct and not reliable.

I mainly followed instructions of the SLUA903 Achievening The Successful Learning Cycle  and the SLUA664 Configuring the bq34100 Data Flash documents for explanations of parameters.

I have 2 crystal batteries 12V- 7200 mAh. The chem ID is 0x0808.It is the good chem ID for my batteries.

Regards,

Rayan

  • Hello Rayan,

Unfortunately we cannot create the golden image for you. You can share your collected data and we can help optimize the gauge performance.

We would need as much data as possible to help: .gg file from before and after learning, log file from learning, log file showing the SOC behavior that is not accurate.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Wyatt,

Thank you for your response. So, I have some questions about the steps for learning cycle. I know the ChemID is the essential parameter and I found the best ChemID for my batteries, it is 0x0808 Lead Acid. But now, I don't know what is the good steps for learning cycle with my batteries.

I found these steps described in SLUA903 document:

    - Enable IT and send command 0x41

    - Discharge until C/5

    - Relax for 5 Hours

    - Charge to full

    - Relax for 2 hours

    - Discharge to empty

    -Relax for 5 hours

But in the conclusion described in SLUA903 document, I found these :

    0. Discharge the cell to empty and wait for at least 5 hours

    1. Enable IT

    2. Send Reset command (0x0041)

    3. Charge the pack to charge termination.

    4. Rest for a least 2 hours

    5. C/5 Discharge to the termination voltage

    6. Rest for 5 hours during the Update Status would change to 06.

I tried both but it doesn't work.

What is the good steps for learning with Crystal Batteries 12V -7,2 Ah ?

    Thank you for your helps.

  • Hello Rayan,

The BQ34Z100-G1 should have a detailed guide for the learning process in the TRM, I would recommend following the TRM guide since it is specifically for this gauge. SLUA903 is written to help with multiple different gauges.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello,

Okay, I will follow the TRM guide for BQ34Z100-G1.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Since the last time, I followed the steps for learning cycle in TRM guide of BQ34Z100-G1.

You can find the steps in attached image.

I discharged my batteries to empty and relaxed them during 5h. After, I enabled IT and Update Status is 0x04. Then, I charged them until the FC bit is High.

But in steps, when the FC bit is high, the VOK bit is cleared and Update Status is 0x05. For me, the bit VOK bit is cleared but Update Status is still 0x04.

I have 2 batteries Crystal Batteries 12V -7.2 Ah. Also, I attached the log file for that.

    What can I do?

    Thank you.

     LogGF.log

  • Hello Rayan,

It looks like the log is discontinuous, this makes it very hard for analysis of root cause issues. We would need to full log and the .gg file from before and after for a full review.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
