TPS65217: How to treat VLDO2 terminal when LDO2 is not used?

Part Number: TPS65217

Hello guys,

One of my customers is going to use TPS65217C for their new products.

At this moment, they have the following question. Could you please give me your reply?

Q. We don't use LDO2 output. According to TPS65217x Schematic Checklist,
     www.ti.com/.../slva686c.pdf
it says "tie to voltage higher than output voltage expected" when LDO2 output is not use.
We connects VINLDO terminal to SYS terminal.
In this case, should VLDO2 terminal be connected to SYS?

Your reply would be appreciated.

Best regards,
Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya,

In this case, should VLDO2 terminal be connected to SYS?

Yes VLDO2 can be connected to SYS. In general if LDO2 is not to be used it just needs to be connected to a voltage rail higher than 3.3V, which is the default LDO2 output voltage on the TPS65217C. After initial power up it can also be disabled by writing a 0b to I2C register 0x16 bit 0 "LDO2_EN".

    Best Regards,
