Hi,
I have had troubles in making the TPS5410 work properly.
My application is to use TPS5410 as a voltage regulator to charge a lithium-ion battery from the 4MHz signal received via an inductive link.
The feedback network was designed for a 4.2V output.
For preliminary test of the IC, I used usual electrolyte capacitors and usual inductor.
TPS5410 works almost properly with no load (However, there was a low frequency ripple on the output voltage, which I think is because it stops switching periodically). However, when I increased the load current to around 40mA, the output voltage drops to about 1V. The VSense was well below 1.2V, and the IC switches continuously, However, the duty cycle of the switching was less than 33%!
When I increased the inductor to about 100uH, the output increased, but just up to about 2V.
My question is that using just the recommended capacitors and inductors described in the datasheet, are a must for making the IC to run, or as I expected, they are suggested for optimum performance of the IC?
Do you believe that improper fuctionality of the IC as I described above is due to using usual passive components, or there may be other reasons.
Thank you very much.
