Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV840
Dear TI Team,
I would like to know VIT+ threshold (SENSE PIN)for TLC7701IPW part , I couldn't find it in datasheet. is VIT+ same as VIH voltage 2.31V? Please confirm.

Ranga

Hi Ranga,
The VIT+ value (the point at which the supervisor starts the deassertion delay) is VIT- + Vhys. For the TLC7701IPW, it is 1.1V + .03V, or 1.13V.
Is this what you are looking for?
Thanks,
Patrick
Hello Patrick,
Yes, I am looking for same information but in datasheet VIT- is mentioned has 1.1mV not 1.1V hence confused. In addition to that, is there any limitation on the external delay setting, requirement is to set 1 sec POR time delay .

Ranga
Hi Ranga,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The VIT- specification unit should be V, not mV.
Do you mean the time between VSENSE > VIT+ and /RESET deassertion? That value is not limited; however, if the delay time is large, please account for an equal time needed for the capacitor to discharge after /RESET deassertion. If the a large capacitor is used and /RESET is reasserted before the capacitor has time to discharge, the resulting time delay will be shortened.
Thanks,
Patrick
If you have not designed this part in, we would like to recommend a newer part with increased performance. What threshold voltage do you need? Do you need a push-pull output and /MR capability?
Thanks,
Patrick
Hello Patrick,
Thanks a lot for clarifying my question. 1V threshold is good enough for our design.
Yes, I mean time delay between VI+ to reset assertion. I am using in total of 54uF capacitor to introduce delay of 1 sec typically. You are right discharging is the fine I need to see how to do look into that. what happens if I connect resistor of 1K in parallel to CT capacitor?

Hello Patrick,
TLC7701IPW device is used in our old product hence we have chosen this part? We are good with Push-pull output type parts as well if it is cost effective and better performance to suit with our application. Please share me new part number?
Regards
Ranga
Hi Ranga,
We don't recommend using resistors on the capacitor-based reset pins.
Thanks,
Patrick
Hi Patrick,
TLV841 part is not suitable for our application, requirement is to have min 500ms delay at worst case conditions. TLV device supports upto 200ms only.
Is discharge time for TLC7701IPW part same as charging time? Please confirm.
Regards
Ranga
Hi Ranga,
Please see Section 8.3.2 of the TLV840 data sheet or Section 8.3.3 of the TLV841 data sheet. Both products have variants that utilize an external capacitor to program the delay time. The recommended maximum delay time is 6.2 seconds using a 10uF capacitor. Please see Figure 8.3/8.5 respectively for the discharge times. I believe these will apply to TLV7701, as well.
In this case, will the TLV840/841 work for you?
Thanks,
Patrick
Hi Patrick,
I missed to go through completely as part numbering doesn't have that option. It seems like good part, let me go through in details before finalizing new part. Thank You for suggesting new component for design.

Hi Ranga,
Thanks for following up on this! The TLV840C, TLV840M, and TLV841C devices support capacitor-programmed delay times.
Please see:
TLV840CADL11DBVR - capacitor-programmed delay time, 1.1V threshold voltage
TLV840MADL10DBVR - capacitor-programmed delay time, manual reset, 1.0V threshold voltage
Please let me know if push-pull is a necessity.
Thanks,
Patrick
Hello Patrick,
Push-pull is not necessity for my requirement even open output is also works. Thank You for your suggestion.

Ranga
Hi Ranga,
Thanks for clarifying. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist with.
Thanks,
Patrick
