TPS54341: 3.3V out

Part Number: TPS54341

Hi Team,

In the datasheet, to get the 5V nominal voltage at the output, 5.2V is required at the input and the Iout is 0.43A. Similarly, for 3.3Vout, 3A-Iout- What is the min input voltage required?

I hope you can clarify.

Thanks!

Regards,

Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

I think this can be calculated backward.  From the 5V data, the max duty cycle is 97%.  Therefore, the min voltage to regulate at 3.3V is:  3.3V/0.97=3.4V. However, the MOSFET voltage drop needs to taken into account. The max RdsON=0.187 Ohm, therefore,  the min Vin=3.4V +3A x 0.187 Ohm = 3.963V.  The inductor dc voltage may add a few more mV (depending on its Rdc), hence you get an good approximated min Vin for 3.3V regulation at 3A.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Thanks,

    Youhao
