I am having the same issue. Boards with BQ24100 return from the field with TS pin having low impendence to ground (100 ohms) or input to ground shorted AND output to ground shorted. Did the post a couple years ago get resolved? thx

I was reading through the old thread and last comment was the unit was sent to get failure analysis through your distributor. Has the schematic/layout design changed from last post? This is not a common problem, as we don't typically see parts failing this way. My recommendation will be the same as before to go through the quality team RMA process to look at the particular failed unit to see if we can get to a root cause of what might be damaging the units.
