Disambiguation for TI DCDC IC part numbers?

Team,

Do we have some general guidelines to recognize the specificity of TI DCDC (ie Step doen Buck converter) power management directly from the part number?
https://www.ti.com/power-management/non-isolated-dc-dc-switching-regulators/step-down-buck/overview.html

Typically:
LMZ vs TPS/TLV vs LM?
TPS6x (like 62, 63,..etc) vs TPS5x (like 55x, 56x, .etc) vs TPS8?
Modules: Will all news modules start with TPSM and TLVM?

Thanks in advance,

A

  • hi, Anber,

It's hard to say all the part number followed same naming rules, LMR/LM most belong to Wide Vin product, Vinmax 36V to100/120v, with both controller and convertor, LM most for controlor or some full function buck. TPS may most coming from MidV, like 28V , TPSM and TLVM usually use for model ,like it have a M in the part number, others like LMR336X0 the X stands for current, ang 36 stands for voltage. but notice not all part name like this, so please double check the spec when choose .Wish my answer could help you .
