Hello Ti,

we have a project where we want to simulate how EV’s can use their battery to stabilize the power grid. It should be just a simulation of a real system (only DC, low voltage and low power) like in picture below:

We are looking for a bidirectional DC/DC converter and a control unit to implement something like this.

Are there any reference designs that you suggest for a starting point?

Hi Daniel,

Your description sounds similar to PMP22650 which is an onboard charger for EV. It consists of a CLLLC isolated DC/DC converter + interleaved totem pole PFC. This reference design is bidirectional.

Hello Ben,

thank you for your Answer, I already checked this design (PMP22650) but that’s an overkill for us. A four switch BUCK/BOOST converter should be sufficient. We don’t need a DAB and PFC at the moment, this will be the next steps, for now we just want to use DC voltages.

The TIDA-00476 looks great, but there is no source code for the statemachine function, it uses a .lib file.

We will keep looking :)

Hello Ben, thanks for the tip. That's what we were looking for, but I found another design yesterday (TIDM_BUCKBOOST_BIDIR). It's more suitable for our application I think.
