TPS2H160-Q1: Schematic review

Part Number: TPS2H160-Q1

Hi Team

1.Please help confirm the SCH ,THX

2. The customer is currently under the test condition of -40 degrees (actuation), and the warning light has no output NG.
The system framework is as follows. It has been determined that the SOC continues to output to the TPS2H160, but the LED has no warning.
At -40 degrees, when the NG phenomenon occurs, the power supply cannot be restored to normal.
In addition, when the product leaves the environment of -40 degrees for about 30 seconds, it will return to normal.

What are the possible reasons for the above exception?

  • Hi Kygo,

I noticed that the current limit resistor is connected from the CL pin to system GND.

This is incorrect use of the device. The resistor must terminate to IC_GND (before the GND network). This is because all references are based with respect to IC_GND.

Can the customer please make this change and retest? Please also check that the voltage at IC_GND remains below 0.6V when under -40C.

Finally, can you please email the results of the new test after the change to the team directly for any follow up questions? E2E will undergo maintenance from Sept 28th to Oct 2nd.

    Thanks,

    Shreyas

  • Hi

    Thank you!

Double confirm with you , so let R104 (1k) changed to 0 ohms.
And the current limit resistor of CL PIN be connected to IC_GND?
    Is that right?

  • Hi Kygo,

Please keep R104 as 1k and connect the current limit resistor directly to IC_GND. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

    Regards,

    Yichi

  • Hi Yichi

So it is recommended to modify the schematic as follows?

But we also don't understand is the impedance difference between CL and GND,

    R(original)=R102(10K)+R104(1K)=11K
    R(modify)=R102(10K)=10K

Why are there different results with a difference of 1K? THX

  • Hi Kygo,

The reason here is because the internal limits are all set with respect to IC_GND.

Because of the diode used, the forward voltage will cause a shift of potential between the IC_GND pin and the system module ground. To avoid issues with incorrect references, we require the CL resistor to be connected to IC_GND as Yichi has recommended.

    Thanks,

    Shreyas
