TPS25750: VBUS pin toggling 5V continuously

Hello,

I have a PD (TPS25750D) trying to power a flash drive when its in DFP mode. For some reason, the 5V on the VBUS pins are toggling the 5V on and off continuously. Our 5V supply on the PP5V pins are stable. This only appears on the other side of the internal FET.

Our settings in the GUI binary file were:

15W

Power Source

device

USB2

Not sure why it is doing this. Need help troubleshooting this issue. The PD does not detect the flash drive at all. The 5V toggles with or without the flash drive plugged in.

Hi Victor,

Which GUI did you use to configure your project? Does your system also incorporate a BQ (i.e. BQ25792) battery charger part as well?

Hello,

We used 7.0.3 version of the GUI. We have a different BQ IC. (BQ24196). But we are not incorporating GUI configs for this portion. We have our own drivers for the battery so we select the top left version of the TPS25750D version where we use both internal FETs but not the battery charger. We sink power to our system with the PPHV pin and we try to source power to the outside world with the PP5V pin. but for some reason, the FET connected to the PP5V pin on the VBUS side is toggling continuously. No idea why.

Hello, I have realized my problem was that I has ESD protection IC TPD2E001DRYR on each CC line causing the weird TPS behavior. Once I removed IC, The voltage was no longer toggling. When I connected the flash drive, the 5V rail turned on on the VBUS pin and it seemed to be powering the flash drive. I can not detect the flash drive ( I see no data) but this looks to be a different problem.
