TPS1H000-Q1: inrush current for capacitive load

Hi team,

Could you advise the behavior of TPS1H000-Q1 at power up into bulk capacitor?

I plan to use it for external power supply switch and there are input capacitor connected.

It is described in the datasheet 7.3.1 Current Limit

“The fast-trip response time is less than 1 μs”

I wonder if this fast-trip will respond at start up which terminate from charging the bulk capacitor.

Could you advise if TPS1H000 can charge bulk capacitor at start up?

What is the threshold of the Fast trip comparator and what is the condition to trigger it?

Hi Tsuji-san,

The fast-trip will only trigger if the device is enabled and there's a short-to-GND happened suddenly (hot-short event). The threshold for fast-trip is higher than the normal current limit threshold.

For cap charging, since it's equivalent to "enable into short" and not "hot short" event, the fast-trip will not be triggered and if thermal permits, the cap can be charged up succussfully.

Hi Tsuji-san,

It should be around 1.6x of the set current limit threshold. We didn't specify this in the datasheet, and customer can do bench test to verify.
