BQ40Z80EVM-020: PACK + pin and 7P shortening is required all time

Part Number: BQ40Z80EVM-020
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hello Sir ,

i am working on BQ40z80EVM , for the inital start up we need to connect the PAck+ and BAT + . But i am facing issue something like all the time it needs to connect for detecting the board in BQ studio.

Could you please help me to resolve the issue.

Regards

Mohan

  • Hello Mohan,

If you do not have the cell configuration setup for the number of cells in your system the gauge may want to always enter voltage based shutdown. I would recommend holding the wakeup button until you have configured the proper number of cells.

  • Hello Wyatt,

I have configured 3 cells  in cell configuration regsiter , 3 cell Resisor setup is connected in the board . even though for detecting the board in BQstudio  need to shorten the PACK + and BAT+

  • Hello Mohan,

Can you share your .gg file and screenshot of the main bqStudio register page when you boot up the gauge? This sounds like the gauge is trying to go to shutdown mode usually from low voltage, so I would make sure your connections are secure and the voltages the gauge measures are what is expected.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Wyatt ,

Please find the attachment. Currently we shorten the PACK + and BAT + , then only we can communicate with BQ studio.

  • Hello Mohan,

From looking at your register dashboard it appears the issue is what I mentioned at first since the SDV bit is set the gauge is trying to enter shutdown mode. Please double check your cell config register to make sure you have programmed the appropriate cell count. You also have the CUVC protection triggered.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
