TLV62569A: application question

Part Number: TLV62569A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV62569

Hi Team,

My customer has some application questions and my comments as below. Could you please help double check about them? Thanks.

1. Does TLV62569A with output discharge? -> No

2. What is the behavior of over current protection? Hiccup mode or Latch mode? ->  Hiccup mode

3. Does TLV62569A have output OVP and UVP? -> No, we only track Vout to control PWM. The PWM will up to 100% when Vout OV and down to 0% when Vout UV.

4. Does PG will drop when output OV/UV? -> According to datasheet, the PG will pull low when Vout UV, but PG will not pull low when Vout OV.

Best regards,

Hardy

  • Hi Hardy,

Please see below for my comments:

    1)  Does TLV62569A with output discharge?

    Sneha--- No.

    2) What is the behavior of over current protection? Hiccup mode or Latch mode?

Sneha--- I do not see any HICCUP protection in TLV62569. I believe the device detects the switch current limit for the HS FET and when the switch current limit is reached, the control circuit then turns off the HS-FET and turns on the LS FET to ramp down the current. Please see below screenshot.

However, I will also confirm this behaviour with the design engineer and will update you soon.

    3) Does TLV62569A have output OVP and UVP?

Sneha ---- No. There is no over-voltage or undervoltage protection in TLV62569.

    4) . Does PG will drop when output OV/UV?

Sneha---- PG goes low when the output voltage falls below 90% of the nominal output voltage. It goes high when the Vout reaches 95% of nominal value.

Let me know if this answers your question.

    Thanks!

    Best regards

    Sneha

  • Hi Sneha,

    Thanks for quick response.

Customer would like to find a solution and need to meet below requirements. Do we have more suitable solution?

    1. Support output discharge.

    2. P2P/B2B with TLV62569.

    3. With OVP and UVP function.

    4. PG can pull low when output OV or UV.

    Best regards,

    Hardy

  • Hi Hardy,

Unfortunately, I am not able to find a solution that is able to support all the features listed by you. However, I have some alternatives which could be a possible solution here. Please see below:

    1) TPS6282x /TPS6208x: This family supports output voltage discharge functionality and the PG pin has a voltage threshold defined. PG goes low when the voltage goes over the threshold or below the threshold value. This is not p2p to TLV62569.

Here you will find the link to their datasheets:

    2) TPS62Ax: This device has output discharge function. But does not have the threshold voltages defined for PG functionality. It's behaviour would be similar to TLV62569 in terms of PG functionality. This is not p2p with TLV62569, howevever with some layout modifcations, TPS62A0x could replace TLV62569 in existing applications. All together, its performance will be better than TLV62569.

Here is the link to its datasheet.

    3) We will have a new addition to our portfolio which would have OVP feature. If you would like to know more about this device, we could discuss via email regarding this. Unfortunately, we donot have a device with UVP feature yet.

Please check these devices and let me know if this would suit customer's application.

In addition, could you share more information about the customer's application? Are they try to replace TLV62569 in their application?

Is OVP and UVP a critical requirement from the customer? If yes, what is the reason?

If these information is confidential to share here, we can also continue our discussion via emails.

    Thanks a lot!

    Best regards

    Sneha

  • Hi Sneha,

    Thanks for your information.

Both of TPS6282x and TPS62Ax are proposed to customer. But customer may not buy in because they are not B2B with TLV62569(it also B2B with other competitor). Could you kindly share latest roadmap for our new product? Also, we can discuss your questions by mail. Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Hardy
