BQ78350-R2-DEVICE-FW: If SOC is 96% and battery is full SOC do not jump to 100% when charge cycle is completly finshed

Part Number: BQ78350-R2-DEVICE-FW

30AH.gg.csv

Whe have see from bateries that at manufacture time the SOC is at 100%. After using the battery with small discharge and  the completly  charge again and this for multiple times that the SOC 100% is never reached any more but slowly start degrading to for example 86% although the battery  is fully charged and in tip top condition. It looks that gauging is missing things. I'm believe we are having some registers not set correctly.

We have checked the above parameters and played around with those to see if we can jum pto 100% SOC when fully charged.

Only when we are completly discharge the battery pack and charge it completly again it will jump back to 100%

Can you see in the CSV file what we have done wrong in the settings?

  • Gemistry is cycle is performed en send in the past to TI and received the GPCPackaged.zip. Those recomended parameters add in BQ studio

  • Hi Rens,

A log file would be helpful to debug this issue. If you are able to collect a log file in BQStudio (click 'Start Log' in the main Registers screen), you can capture the state of all of the registers and measurements during charging. This will provide some insight into why charging is stopping when the SOC is only reporting 86%.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • Hello Matt,

We have found the solution for our problem ,

Our system is using the scalingfactor   of 10  and we have for this also scaled our taper curent by a factor 10.
Then we have set the current low/mid/high  very high so in this case the the taper current is the leading  for the charge termintion.
if this all is set our VCT bit will be set at end of charge and SOC will jump to 100%

    Kind regards

    Rens
