LM5164: Isolated output

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to use LM5164 instead of LM5161 in an isolated output configuration?

I am planing to use a coupled inductor instead of a single inductor and create an isolated secondary side.

Will there be any problems in this configuration?

Hello Savas,

You would need a part with FPWM operation at light load (like the LM5161). You can also look at the LM5017 and LM5168.

The LM5164 utilizes diode emulation at light load for best efficiency. This makes it unsuitable for flybuck configuration.

Is it possible to use TPS563208 for 5V isolated output? It say it has Forced PWM feature.

Hi Savas,

In theory, yes, but I think it is best to create a new E2E question with this device in particular.

That way you will get help from folks more familiar with it.
