LM5176: LM5176 is used as a boost chip

Part Number: LM5176

Hello, I want to consult, I have a project.Input 12V-24V, output 25V, I want to use LM5176, I want to consult QH1 and QL1, whether to delete it as a boost, whether this will be risky.

  • Hello Hongwei,

It is not possible to use the device with only 2 transistors on the boost side. For example the buck side is needed when the device starts up. If you know that the power needed on the buck side is a lot lower than during normal operation, you can try to use smaller FETs.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte

  • I actually tested it and deleted the FET on the step-down side. Only the leakage current was different, and no abnormalities were found.

  • Hello Hongwei,

We do not recommend going this way, but the final use of the device is under your control.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
