LP5018: LP5018 - understanding 8-bit intensity dimming

Part Number: LP5018

Hello,

in regards of my engineer, I want to know how the 8-bit intensity dimming results in the 12-bit?

My concern is, when actually visually dimming down the LED, the 256 8-bit steps are clearly seen. This is exactly what I have to avoid.

Or how does the IC handle this?

  • Hi,

I'm not sure what question you are asking.

If you want to achieve a human-eye-friendly visual performance, you can consider to use a logarithmic-scale dimming curve.

Or do you want to know how the device handle the 12 bits PWM control?
