BQ27441-G1: Device charging & operation issues using Texas Instruments BQ27441-G1

Part Number: BQ27441-G1

Some of our devices that use Texas Instruments fuel gauge BQ27441-G1 are developing issues that I need help with that may be related to the fuel gauge or our application of it. The issues we are seeing is the devices are dying very quickly (5-20 minutes) after a full charge or quickly (1.5-2hrs) after a full charge, with sometimes the meter going from 100% - 0% when dying or sometimes going from 100% to say 60% before dying. The devices should at a minimum last 3 hours. Once we unsolder the battery from the PCB and then re-solder the battery to the PCB the battery meter is back on track and the devices are lasting over 3 hours. What are all of the possibilities this could be? Our devices I am thinking (I could be wrong) us using a fuel gauge may be the wrong application for how some of our customer use our devices, please see the attachment for why I am thinking this. Please let me know if this fuel gauge should work properly for this application?/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/196/Texas-Instruments-fuel-gauge-BQ27441_2D00_G1-comparing-smart-hones-to-Erchonia-device.pdf
