TPS62619: Power On Issue

Part Number: TPS62619

I'm having irregular results for whether or not the Buck is providing power. The IC does not seem to power on by itself, and when I probe the output and provide power to the IC it is a 50/50 chance whether the device turns on. I have followed the recommended component values and layout from the datasheet. Is there anything I can do to try get this to power on consistently?

  • Hello,

Can you share your complete schematic?

    Thanks!

    Best regards

    Sneha

  • I don't know if I can share all of my schematic but there is the voltage regulator, a temp/humidity sensor, and another IC that runs at 340uA typ, and 670uA max. with 200nF of capacitance on the inputs.

  • Hi Anthony,

I checked the TPS62619 schematic and I do not see any concern with it.

In my opinion, it could be an application issue. However, Can you please proovide the following details to be able to better understand the problem:

    1) Did you check how does the circuit behave if you replace the IC? And, Is this issue happening with only one device?

    2) Can you share the waveforms of Vin, Vsw, Inductor current and Vout, when the device is powering up?

    3) How are you supplying the input voltage to the circuit?

    Thanks!

    Best regards

  • Hi Sneha

This is happening across multiple ICs. Here are the screenshots of a successful and failed power on. We are using a NGE100 power supply.

  • Hi Anthony,

Thanks for sharing the waveforms. Is the orange waveform representing Vsw and green waveform representing IL? Please confirm.

Also, I still believe that the issue is not device related, but could be an application related. If you have a problem sharing your complete schematic and power tree over here, you can share it to my email id: "s-nair@ti.com". I can review it and let you know my comments via email. Please let me know your thoughts on this.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Anthony,

As we discussed this via emails, I will close this thread here.

    Thanks!
