TPS53627: Solutions suggestion for Intel Snow Ridge Platform

Hi team,

We knew we have solutions-TPS53627/626 can support Intel Snow Ridge platform.

But customer has board limitation and need smaller size power solutions, so do we have any alternative solutions?

Below table is customer's power budget and please advise then I can feedback to customer.

    Hi Paul,

    The smallest solution size BMC-MCS could offer for those rails would be:

    TPS53622 w/ 1 CSD95410 (VCCIN) + 1 CSD95410 (VNN_NAC). This would require good layout & good cooling to run VNN_NAC on one phase, however.

    TPS53622 w/ 1 CSD95420 (VNN_PCH) + 1 CSD95420(P1V05_NAC)

    TPS53622 w/ 1 CSD95420 (P1V05_A)

    If some of these rails could be combined (P1V05_NAC & P1V05_A maybe?), that could reduce solution size. If the only issue is sequencing, you might be able to use a small load switch instead of a new rail.

    I'd also recommend sending an E2E post to BSR-MV to see what they can do. Asking about TPS544C26 should get you to that product line.

    Travis,

    Due to there is no heatsink, so customer thinks 2 phase should be suitable. So if in this case, how many phase you think is better? 1phase?

    Another question is Can TPS53622 use for VCCIN 2phase + VNN_PCH 1phase? Or use for VNN_NAC 2phase + P1V05_NAC 1phase?

    3rd question: due to Intel is not recommended combine P1V05_A and P1V05_NAC power rail, they both need independent IMON function, so does TI have DC/DC POL with SVID(VR13) for P1V05_A?

    Hi Paul,

    1. 2 phase would definitely be the preferred solution for 44A TDC. However, the two phases could be CSD95420's (4x5mm package) instead of the CSD95410s (5x6mm).

    2. TPS53622 can only support 2 phases in a 2+0 or 1+1 configuration. I'd recommend switching to the TPS53659 (same size package, slightly more expensive) to get the 2+1 config.

    3. TI does have small, integrated DC/DC POL's with SVID, such as the TPS544C26. However, that particular product seems like overkill for P1V05_A, and I know very little about the similar products. I'm looping in BSR-MV to assist.
