TPSI3050: Maximum frequency

Part Number: TPSI3050

Hi Team,

Can TPSI3050 achieve 200kHz Fsw application? I found that the calculator limits frequecny to 100kHz.

Regards,

Charles

  • Hello Charles Zhang,

Thank you very much for reaching out to us with this question. I will begin with the answer to your question and then provide more details about the switching frequency.

    - TPSI3050 will not be capable of achieving 200kHz switching frequency.

The max switching frequency which the TPSI3050-Q1 is capable of achieving depends on the power transfers (PXFR) that TPSI3050 provides and the max driving gate charge (Qg). The following screen capture from the datasheet provides an equation for this relationship. Even if the FET you are driving has a very small gate charge, at these high frequencies we must pay attention to the signal propagation delay for the TPSI3050. For this reason, the recommended and max switching frequency is 100kHz taking into account this number will change based on Qg and PXFR selection. Section 9.2.2.4 in the datasheet provides further details.

TPSI3050 as a solid state relay driver is optimized for low switching frequencies with low power transfer across the isolation barrier. This allows the devices to be easily driven from a microcontroller.

Let us know if this answers your questions.

    Sincerely,

    Francisco Lauzurique
