LP8866-Q1: I2C VIL

Part Number: LP8866-Q1

Hi All,

I have a question about I2C for LP8866-Q1.

In the standard specification for I2C, it is stated that VIL=0.3VDD(min).
(VOL = 0.4V is stated.)

However, LP8866-Q1's VIL = 0.4V(max) is stated.
When VIL is as described in the I2C standard specification, it cannot be input to LP8866-Q1.

I think that VIL is listed as VOL value and VIL is a misdescription, is my understanding correct?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hi, shuji-san

what is your question? pls follow the datasheet spec.

  • Hi Zhiqian-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have a quick question if the LP8866-Q1 digital input range may not cover the I2C VIL specification.

We can find that the LP8866-Q1 accepts VIL up to 0.4V.

On the other hand, the I2C spcification defines VIL as up to 0.3xVDD as follows.

For example, when the VDD is 3.3V, the I2C should be able to accept up to 0.99V as the input low.

Does it mean that the LP8866-Q1 can't accept the I2C stardard for the VIL in all VDD range or can we expect to take some voltage margin at higher VDD(e.g. 3.3V)?

My understanding is that the VIL of LP8866-Q1 is not compliant with I2C input. Is this understanding correct?

  • Hi, Shuji-san

Sure, ,you are correct, pls follow the spec of datasheet to do the new design.
