BQ24292I: Battery is not charging and STAT led Fully on

Dear TI Team,

I have finished the BQ24292i IC-based battery charger PCB for the IS,2P,6000 mAh Li-ion battery. I designed my battery charger schematic using the User's Guide SLUUA14C schematic after making some changes. I received the necessary output of the minimum system voltage at the SYS pin for various VBUS voltages (From 5V-15V). However, even though I have the CE/ pin grounded for charging, my battery is not charging, and the STAT lit is ON. The STAT pin LED is not flashing either (which means no Fault condition). Please support me to resolving the battery-charging issue.

Hello Muhammed,

Can you please give me your full register dump? What is the voltage of the input, the voltage of the battery, and the voltage of the system when this is happening?

Dear Michael,

We are using the battery charger with default charging parameters, i have no register access. Is it any problem in my schematics, I grounded CE/ pin to ground in the above schematic and battery is not charging. STAT led is not showing any Fault.

Is it register access is mandatory for default charging condition.

Hello Muhammed,

In order to see the status of your charger I need to the see the I2C registers. In addition, I need the requested pin voltages. Register access is not mandatory for operation but helpful to debug.

Is it possible to access BQ24292i registers with EV2400 and BQSTUDIO software, I already buyed this EV2400 For some other applications.

Hi Muhammed ,

Unfortunately this device uses HPA172 to interface with the GUI. It may work if you connect the proper SDA, SCL, and GND lines but I have not verified that.

Hi Michael,

I used EV2400 and connected SDA,SCL and ground I2C pins of charger PCB to SDA,SCL and ground I2C pins of EV2400, But BQ2419X EVM software is not working. While after connecting EV2400 With above mentioned connection, there is no USB bridge attached is showing in the BQ2419X EVM Software.

Hello Muhammed,

It looks like the EV2400 does not work with this GUI. Please use the prescribed HPA172 to interface with the part.
