Hi Expert:

We are design LM74810-Q1 back-back Oring application for battery OVP, UVP and reverse protection. May I know if the Oring back-to back design only can also have the input short to GND (short circuit)protection feature ?

Operating condition:

1.12-V battery, 12-V nominal with 3.2-V Cold Crank and 35-V Load Dump

2.10A max application.

Can you help us understand what you expect the controller to do for protection when there is an input short to GND ?

Sorry for my late reply, May I know does the Oring controller have an inrush current over protection @ > 10A behavior if we are testing output short to GND ?

(because I see LM5060 Hot swap controller have OCP protection but LM7481-Q1 doesn't mention any over current protection feature) .

Hi Roy,

LM7480-Q1 can only limit the current during startup (inrush current limiting). It does not have output short circuit protection functionality like LM5060.

So, after the Vout is ramped up, if a short circuit is applied at the output, there will be no protection offered by LM7480-Q1. Please reach out to me on email to know about our latest upcoming products which have this feature.
