TPS23755: ORing function select

Part Number: TPS23755

Dear team

The POE design that wants to use TPS23755 as PD, and reserve power adapter for coexistence.

The application is as follows:

Vpoe = 12V

Vadp =12V

TI have three design methods of option 1/2/3. Is it better to use option 2 for our application? In terms of priority, when we Vpoe = Vadp =12V, would it be more appropriate to use PoE priority or Adapter priority?

Many thanks

  • Hi Denny,

    Since your adapter voltage is 12V and the output of the DCDC converter for PoE will also be 12V, it is best to select option 3 which is best suited for 12V and below OR'ing options.

    In terms of priority it will depend on the customers end goal, most commonly we see PoE priorty and the adapter used as a form of redundency. This will ultimately come down to preference, however using PoE priority it will help reduce total BOM.

    Very Respectfully,
