TPS7A45: Tantalum

Part Number: TPS7A45

Hi,

Good Day. Is the TPS7A4501DCQT stable when driving low ESR Tantalums?  My customer needs to create a small time delay between two different rail voltages powering up and including an RC network on the output of the TPS is his only feasible route. The tantalums would have an ESR of around 45mOhms at 100kHz and he would have approximately 400uF of capacitance on the output on the TPS. Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray Vincent,

This LDO is rated for a capacitor with ESR of 3Ω or less, so this tantalum capacitor should give you similar performance to a ceramic capacitor with TPS7A45. The output capacitance is also above the minimum recommended good performance of this device.

    Regards,

    Andres
