BQ25601: BQ25601 can not charge after the battery is over discharged

Part Number: BQ25601

Hi

The customer design with BQ25601, After the battery is over discharged, the battery voltage is 0V, and the external charger cannot be charged.

The log data from system read 4.2V (the system ADC reads the voltage at Vbattery), but the actual battery voltage is 0V.

The chip is BQ25601, Attached the schematic the chip name is incorrect, it is BQ25601's schematic.

Attached the system log data

session.log

Why the battery voltage is 0V, but the system reads 4.2V?

Thanks

  • Hi Star,

The battery voltage reading from the ADC is the BAT pin voltage. Check your IBAT (battery current) to see if the battery is being charged properly. Additionally, take a look at this section of the datasheet pictured below for more information on over-discharged batteries:

If your battery is not receiving the correct ISHORT charge current, make sure that there is no external circuitry or built-in battery protection disconnecting the battery terminal from the VBAT pin.

    Regards,
